What a race day....cold and blustery wind and reports of all that snow in northern parts seems to have kept some racers away today, but it turned out to be a great race for those who showed. A little chilly off the start but actually a comfortable temperature for giving your all out on a sweepingly fast course...very dry and only a few spots that were soft...what a change over the Albion Hills trails of 2009, the year of the bog!!
Erica again easily won her race. Congratulations. Holly put in a great effort in a field with world cup racers showing up to take the podium spots. Good Job. I had a great time going faster than I think I ever have as an average speed in a race.
My auto feeder was again a success...smooth exchange and no bottles dropped. It certainly makes it easy when family members are otherwise occupied...I like being self sufficient...I 've added it in our store since I've had loads of enquires at the race and the Vancouver Island supplier is more than pleased to send as many as we Ontarians need...judging from my converstations with the Moms in the feedzone today on Mother's Day an autofeeder would make a great gift!
The next OCup will be the Trek Store Canada Cup at Hardwood Hills on May 30th. Of course lots of other events between now and then though...the Wild Bettys will be racing in the Wizard of Wheels Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous 24 Hour race at Mansfield on the 22-23 May. Always a fun event now in it's 11th year. I believe there is still room to sign up ! www.wowmtb.com/Lifestyles.html
The big event that most of the Wild Bettys are working towards is the Lake to Lake in June....please check out the forum as we are looking for 2 more riders to make up our second team.
Next on the agenda this week is our second Tuesday ride. We had a great turn out last week and the weather was perfect...I'm anticipating the same for this week. We unfortuantely did leave before two last members arrived and so I think we should try to check our phones for text messages just before we leave to ensure nobody is left behind...now to just get everybody's cell numbers circulated...ahhhh ,another reason we should be communicating on the forum, we even have a members forum set up for such activities! I'll work on that too...for this week I'll post my number and check it before we set out...cuz the group can always head out and double back to get anybody a little late stuck in traffic, if we know you are on your way.
See you Tuesday,
Ride On!
Melinda.
