October is the end of the traditional  mountainbike race/event season, but  the Betty year continues. We've had our annual general meeting. We are so glad some of you came out...the pot luck lunch was fantastic and the meeting was very fruitful. The weather didn't cooperate for a ride, but the afternnoon brightened up for our meeting.

We had some core members from the very beginning, some solid committed leaders and race team members at the meeting  and some new members who were surprised at how it all works behind the scenes. Everyone's opinion is much appreciated. We are taking applications for members interested in leading and/or being a part of our race team for 2013. And of course, we are looking for sponsors to help us.

The club will contiue with a Milton chapter which is very exciting and we will be moving to weekly Thursday night rides. We also will be working with a new idea of organized alternative rides as we often get cancelled due to rain on our designated ride nights. As stewards of our beautiful urban trails we really are aware that riding on our clay off-camber trails in the wet is not very responsible, not to mention the risks of riding in the thunder and lightening, and so we had quite a few Tuesdays in the second half of the season that were cancelled. Consequently, we are going to be trialing an open ride format for an alternative date. Our Milton chapter had better luck with the weather on Thursday evenings for the season. They have different venues to choose when the weather is a wet, like the fun twin ponds trails in Cambridge in lieu of Kelso conservation area in Milton.

We have some WildBettys merchandise left and some of the Bettys were eager to help out with that at the AGM...we do love to shop! but we still do have a few jerseys and jackets left in all sizes and limited sizes in shorts check out our store...shipping is free!!!

We talked about the size of our club and race team and decided that what everybody really wants is someone to ride with, and to race with and so the more the merrier!!! For 2012 our membership soared to 62!!! We are so proud ...can't have too many Bettys. For our race team... the premise is to call out to anybody who's intersted, to encourage and support their participation at all levels of racing, and all kinds of events. Maybe you've noticed us out that at events, we have even had some podium finishes this year, (not just SarahO at the Ocups, great job! ;), Again we are so proud!

We have had awesome support from Sport Swap and Lapierre Toronto, also from Merrithew Health/Stott Pilates as well as our coach and trainer Steve Neal Performance, and the fabulous ever present Clif Bar, and recently Sacred Rides.

It's been an exciting, fulfilling 2012....bring on 2013!!!!

Ride On!

Melinda.
