A new blog format...looks so official doncha think?
So last night, Tuesday night, was our first ride...we were nine Wild Bettys out on the trails, looking very sharp. We took it nice and easy doing the Crother's wood circiut and then the flats north and then back along the paved path south on the east side of the river back into Crothers wood and along the upper trail north to the Thomas Hauser kiosk...a short hour and almost a half just to get our legs back....The Don is pretty easy to navigate as the trails are all interconnected but basically run north and south along the valley.
We had Tanya as our leader for the evening and Eleanor as the sweep. Kudos to Eleanor who helped a rider on the trail fix his flat tire just near the end of our ride. I can only assume the rider was flustered from having a mechanical on an awkward part of the trail as a large group comes by, but extremely lucky that Eleanor was our sweep with her pump!! If we have as many Bettys come out weekly we will be able to offer different levels of rides as the season progressses, but last night I think we agreed was a perfect pace to get started...the goal is to not be overwhelmed, not be bored and have as much fun as possible.
For those reading this who might think you missed something...well, you did
, but whenever you can make it out to join us, (cause we all do have those pesky day jobs that keep us tied up), I know you will fit right in and have fun.
Today I am off to Albion to pre-ride the Ocup course...this will also be the venue for our first destination ride at the end of the month...with their picnic areas and bathrooms it makes it a great spot for a day trip....or maybe a MTB mini-clinic???
Ride On!
Melinda.
