Every weekend more events, different events, new events..... last weekend for example was the East Coast Open at Blue Mountain and the Bettys had a great time at the cross country race, and some success on the podium I might add! See our race page for details. After a very fun night out at Blue, (a couple of birthdays needed to be celebrated), the Bettys checked out the downhill race. CRAZY!!!  I, for one, have gained a new respect for the sport of downhill racing.

Coming up this coming weekend, we've got a destination ride planned for Saturday and our third clinic in our learn to race series on Sunday.

Last Tuesday, at our ride we were made aware of the Muddy Monkey's escapades, who knew?! Each week after our weekly ride, thanks to Julie and Michelle's efforts, we've been acknowledging a couple of the Betty's efforts. The Muddy Monkey is awarded for the week to the Betty who seemed to find the most mud/dirt on the ride....sometimes it's a lot, like in the wet Spring, eh?, Lisa and Sarah O? and sometimes just a little, but somehow one of us does manage to take home a bit more of the Don than the rest of us...that Betty can proudly take Muddy Monkey home for the week...he has been zip-tied onto quite a few handlebars this season but only recently, when he spent at week with Barb at our sponsor, the Sport Swap bike shop, did we really become aware of his activities. Here he is his dressed in his finery.

This started us thinking that we should really chronicle  what happens to him each week, so stay tuned...of  course the wildflower just hangs out looking pretty, acknowledging the accomplishments of the Bettys..but that monkey...he's mischievous!!!

Of course, our weekly rides are continuing, as well as our monthly beginner rides, we have one of those coming up this Thursday, August 25th. We had a new member come out this Tuesday, welcome Susi. Yes, it's mid August but the riding is continuing thru the fall. This winter we're thinking Stott pilates, spinning, Crossfit and Joyride50 for the Bettys, so we can keep up our fitness and skills. I recently saw a link on facebook for a riding video that reminded me of the old brickworks where we start our beginner rides, check out the link on our facebook page ....wait"ll we start hitting up joyride, then we'll be working on Danny Macaskill skills, OMG!! :)

It's all very busy being a Betty!! Much more fun than a day job!!

Ride On!
