A fabulous couple of weeks for this Betty...in fact a bit of a lesson learned...not for the first time in this life but just pointed out to me again; that one cannot burn the candle at both ends. Performance on a mountain bike requires a clear, well rested head.
Yesterday I participated in the second annual
Frost Bike Race...a really fun event down in Port Colbourne on the Short Hills Cycling Club trails. After large snowfalls, some melting and some rain and refreezing, the course was a true mixture of all things Canadian winter has to offer: snow, ice, 6 inch deep slush, and mud!!! Those who rode the course early had a very different experience than those who came after in this time trial style event. This event fell on the heels of an awesome week of endurance training and social catching up, (wink, wink). It was a blast in the sunshine and muck but, well, I need a little recovery, shall we say. Nothing earth shattering but just a reminder that those goals in life won't achieve themselves, and I need to stick to my priorities.
So, with that in mind, I am working on the website today, and focusing on planning now that we are sure to see spring soon. Can't wait for our weekly rides to start...and the bike show just two weeks away, the Bettys will be there!
Hope to see you there too!!
Ride On!
Melinda.
