The last two weeks have been very full for the Bettys…we’ve had two awesome night rides…perfect trails and the lights are great…it is a very different experience in the dark, and we’ve been taking it easy to all get accustomed to it. It is especially nice to have others along because I do have to admit occasionally I get spooked….I even was surprised by the ‘woop woop’ in the middle Don last Tuesday, it came out of nowhere!!…the trails do look different at night :)
We also had a perfect day for our morning ride and potluck lunch/annual meeting last Saturday…. hope you checked out our video on the home page…just click the picture and it will take you to our YOU tube channel. I have really been enjoying playing with the new camera and videoing the Bettys’ rides, I hope it gives you an idea of the trails we ride, if you haven’t been out with us yet. Check out Kara in the jumps down in the flats, she joined us for her first ride of the season….(new baby Desmond has kept her busy all summer) Welcome back Kara!
Potluck is a great format, for many reasons, like, easy on the host ;) …., but you get to know people a little bit better by getting a glimpse of what they share to eat!! The Bettys brought all healthy, hearty offerings and as women are apt to do: recipe requests followed!! So, we will start a recipe exchange thread on the general forum …..
Loads of ideas were bounced around for next season and we are deep into planning now…we are looking for committed riders to add to our race team and will be offering more ride nights next season, just to mention a few….
On Sunday, four Bettys took the Hardwood 50K single-track challenge. It was another perfect autumn day and we had loads of fun and Carlene placed on the podium!! Congratulations…check out her picture on the race results page.
We are still riding Tuesdays, weather permitting, so come join us if you can….in addition, we are starting our training group for next season…traditionally, the cycling ‘off-season’ is really planning/training for the next ‘on-season’. No matter what your level of riding, what goal events you hope to do next season, you might want to consider joining us for some training.
Ride On!
Melinda.
