We had our August destination ride yesterday...we were guests at Susan's partner Steve's home in Springwater which backs right onto the Springwater Provincial Park. This a beautiful park with tall stands of pine trees and twisting single track trails. It connects to the Simcoe County Forest which also has a fabulous trail system....we went for a 18 km ride led by Susan with such care, and swept by Lori, an honorary Betty for the day It was a great loop with loads of rock and log obstacles and plenty of bridges to give us a challenge...fortunately not too many hills which was a bonus for Pat after we had had to dismantle her rear brake in a emergency trailside repair with mini tools. Thanks Steve for offering to help.  We managed to get it  sorted out by the time he reached us and his advice was simply "what?, she's got a front back, just don't yank on it!" Great advice...in fact, I do believe Pat was able to ride faster and learned a little something about braking on the ride back  .

We welcomed two new members, one of whom, Carlene was able to join us for the ride, and one, Lisa F, who had had an extraordinary day by the time we caught up with her , but was able to join us for a corn roast, barbecue and far too many desserts!!!

We truly are a group of all ages and abilities, all with a common desire to make new friends, to ride new trails, with the determination to improve our mountain biking and the stick-to-it-ive-ness to make those things happen.

Thank you Susan and Steve for hosting the Wild Bettys, it was simply a great day.

Ride On!

PS How do you get over things? - Follow a Betty on the trail... and truly ride WITH somebody.
